Josh Diaz Wins Best Video at Corporate Content Awards
Josh Diaz Wins Corporate Content Awards
Hello creatives,
This is a quick follow-up post to my first post on this site about my trip to New York City in late 2022. In that first post, I talked about my project, which I did alongside the very talented Street Photographer Jorge Garcia. While working alongside Jorge is certainly enough of a reason to visit the Big Apple, I went for another reason entirely.
I travelled to New York to receive two awards for my work on a video project called The TDG Circle of Excellence Awards, which I produced and edited for The Dufresne Group Inc. The project was a big one for sure, the video component to a hybrid virtual event the company creates annually as their primary form of recognition for employees. 2022 was my third year producing the event, but it was the first year to be submitted to the Corporate Content Awards for consideration.
Well, low and behold my work was chosen! So off to New York, I went.
The TDG Circle of Excellence Awards
I’ve always loved documentaries.
Thinking back to my days at the University of Regina in the School of Journalism, my favourite class was one where we produced, filmed, and edited our own documentaries. Looking back, my projects were always too ambitious. However, that love for the process of creating a documentary for others to watch really stuck with me.’
So when The Dufresne Group asked me to produce a corporate documentary about some of the company’s employees, I thought it was an excellent match. Over the month of January, I filmed dozens of interviews, wrote a few scripts, and edited hundreds of hours of footage to put together an extensive video production. Essentially, a series of miniature corporate documentaries played during a live event intercut with live presenters and entertainment. The production aired in February 2022 to an audience of around 2000 people.
I had only heard about the Corporate Content Awards after my project concluded. I was immediately interested in the program, as it was one of only a few programs which did not require the project to have a public release. As The TDG Circle of Excellence Awards was developed for an internal audience of furniture industry employees, this fit well.
The Corporate Content Awards
The Corporate Content Awards is one of several award programs hosted by Communicate Magazine. Communicate is an international publication which covers many topics related to business excellence. I won two awards from the program for my video production. The awards I took home included Gold in the ‘Best Video for an Internal Audiance’ and ‘Best Corporate Video.’
Below is a video created by Communicate announcing my nomination to the program.
I want to thank The Dufresne Group and everyone who helped me create The TDG Circle of Excellence Awards. It was a rewarding experience, and I’m happy that others outside the company also watched the project I worked so hard on.
